This job was in celebration of the clients' 50th wedding anniversary. It included an announcement, separate party invitation, and envelope with return address. The entire process was carried out in close collaboration with the happy couple.
The two pictures we started with were of different sizes and proportions. The original wedding photo had faded and lost much of its color, the edges were dog-eared, the cinderblock grid of the wall showed, there was a folding chair next to the groom and a hand-written message in the lower corner. The snapshot was too contrasty and had several distracting 'extra' elements.
The wedding photo was cropped for better composition and to clean up the edges,
the cinderblock wall got smoothed, the chair was removed, and the color
and contrast were adjusted.
The snapsot was cropped and resized to match the width of the wedding photo.
The extra place settings were removed from the table.
The color was adjusted to match the wedding photo, and the overall exposure
and contrast were softened.
Both photos got some spot retouching to make them look their best.
A border was added to frame the photos and give them a common context.
The clients supplied the text.
Appropriate fonts and colors were chosen, everything was sized and laid out
harmoniously in the space available.

Output was a CD with all of the files formatted for a commercial print shop.
